My Life, My Lesson: Be Careful What You Wish For

I’ve been on the birth control pill Yasmin for almost one month now. My cycles are already regulating themselves to a T, but I’m having one of those be careful what you wish for moments.

It has been mighty nice to only have three or four light periods a year. Lord help me. Hopefully, someday I’ll have my own bundle of joy and this will all be more than worth it.

I had a stubbornly awful two a day migraine at the end of last week that coincided with the start of my period. I’m hoping this can be written off as pure coincidence, but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the months to come. I don’t quite know what the next step will be if I decide I have to go off the Yasmin, but perhaps I can try another low dose pill and see if I have better luck. Regardless, it’s all speculation at this point.

Otherwise, I’m kind of in a holding pattern with my meds. I see my local neurologist on December 15, at which time we’ll be looking at increasing my Amitriptyline.

I need to get a clearer idea of whether I want to get another round of Botox before that appointment. I’m sure he’ll want me to get it. It’s a nice little fee and mark up on the medication paid out of pocket for him. But what about the fact that it didn’t seem to do anything significant for me? That $1,000 is a big chunk of change and would pay for a large portion of another visit to Dr. Krusz in Dallas.

I said all along I was committed to trying it twice, but it’s not so easy to stand by that given the lack of results. If anyone has sage advice for me, I’m all ears.My husband C and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary on November 30, so I’m sharing a photo of us on our wedding day (my favorite photo of us, actually).
